Feature & Follow Friday #25

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can read. Each week there're two featured blogs. This week's featured blogs are Reading Between Classes and Read It, Read it, Love It

Question of the week:

Do your reading habits change based on your mood? Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?

Answer: Oh definite, I'm a total mood reader, which is why I don't really organize my TBR or make a list. I usually have a general idea what I want to read but I always give myself more than a few options.

When I'm happy, I love to read fun books that warms my heart. Usually, these involve funny/humorous characters and a bunch of sarcastic sometimes snarky humor. I can deal with either a bunch of action, or just plain contemporary books that makes me all warmth inside. These books leaves me with a huge goofy smile when I'm done with them.

When I'm depressed, I'll go for the darker and/or sadder books. Don't ask me why I'll do that as if I'm not depressed enough, but I guess I can relate to the characters better. If I'm feeling like crap, I can commiserate with my characters. Otherwise I might just be too frustrated with all the stupid mistakes they make if I'm not in the dark mood to relate to their mistakes.

So what about you? Are you a mood reader?

Hey Ning! Good answer. It totally makes sense, and being able to relate to your characters when you're in a funk can change your perspective a bit & understand them more :) Thanks for stopping by my FF <3 have a great weekend girly!

I'm not a mood reader myself. I read paranormals whatever I'm feeling. I tend to like those so in a sense they can make me happy!

that's good too. it's very spontaneous. I've had days where I planned what I was going to read only to change my mind at the last minute!

Ning @ Reading by Kindle Fire said...

that makes sense. I read a lot of paranormal books but occasionally I need to switch it up. Thanks for stopping by!

For me I find my mood changes the genre that I want to read. I go through blocks where I only read one genre, then I randomly change to another one. But I don't find myself reading certain books because of the way I feel. Although I do find that the way I feel has an impact on how much I enjoy the book! So if I'm angry or sad I try and take a break from reading till I get over it :)

hmm that happens to me sometimes too. I'll change genres randomly. When I'm sad, sometimes I'll stop reading too if I can't find the right book because I don't want to not enjoy a book because of my mood and it's not the book's fault
