Feature & Follow Friday #24

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can read. Each week there're two featured blogs. This week's featured blogs are Books are my reality and Concise Book Reviews.

Question of the week:

Summer Reading. What was your favorite book that you were REQUIRED to read when you were in school?

Answer: Oh God, I hated required reading when I was in school. I'd much rather read something paranormal or romance related. With that said, my favorite would have been:
Anthem by Ayn Rand.
A lot of dystopian nowadays actually reminds me of it.

The only thing I tried to read by Ayn Rand was Fountainhead and I couldn't finish it. Yes Outsiders is a classic that you have to read. Watch the movie as well. Like everyone is in it: Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Ralph Machio, Emilio Estevez, Matt Dillion and a bunch of other people I can't even remember.

I've heard of Ayn Rand, but no required reading on it nor have I read any of her works. Heard MANY great things about it. Maybe that's why it wasn't required at my school.. LOL.

Thanks for stopping by my FF. Old follower :0)

this was a super short one lol. I read it in one sitting. Maybe that's why I liked it so much

Ning @ Reading by Kindle Fire said...

oh wow. gna go find it now. I actually read Fountainhead for my senior research paper in high school. Most ppl thought I was crazy, but I actually enjoyed it. I think it's because Rand's writing is more "modern" than a lot of older classics. I also really liked her concept even if she was kind of weird.

Ning @ Reading by Kindle Fire said...

thanks for the follow!

Ning @ Reading by Kindle Fire said...

it's very short and doesn't have all the details/trilogies of dystopians now. I think it worked better because she got the point across and was done, instead of dragging out the story.

Ning @ Reading by Kindle Fire said...

oh wow that's cool. she's an interesting personality.

Ning @ Reading by Kindle Fire said...

haha maybe. can't have you read something enjoyable in school. Anthem was the only required reading. all her other works are wayy too long, over 1000 pages

Ning @ Reading by Kindle Fire said...

it's a pretty good dystopian. very short!

Ning @ Reading by Kindle Fire said...

I hated reading required books lmao. some of them are interesting. I think if I didn't have to write a paper or analyze it i would've enjoyed it a lot more!

Ning @ Reading by Kindle Fire said...

haha not this one at least. or maybe I just didn't really figure it out

Sometimes my summer reading list would let me choose from a set of given titles, but most of them were less than enthralling to me. I would have much rather read something paranormal, too.

you had to write a paper and analyze it? >.< maybe I don't remember that part of high school lol. maybe it was so traumatizing my mind has blocked it and I can no longer remember what a fragile state I was in hahahahaha. oh lawd.
