List TWO "Don't" and one "Do" when it comes to blogging and reviewing. "
List TWO "Don't" and one "Do" when it comes to blogging and reviewing. "
Answer:
Do Have Fun - enjoy yourself when blogging and connect with the community.
Don't only blog to get ARCs - while ARCs are nice, blog because you love it. When you have consistent contents and have shown your dedication, ARCs will come. Before then, just blog away!
Don't feel pressured to do "this and that thing" or review "this or that book" - read whatever you want. Don't let blogging become something you "have" to do like work that you end up hating it. If you agree to review, be professional about it, but you don't have to feel pressured to accept review requests if you don't think you're going to enjoy the book.

I totally agree with everything mentioned.
When I first started blogging & I got requests through from authors, I felt as though I should review everything -it just isn't possible though!
Great points Ning :-)

I mentioned the last one in my post as well because it's so incredibly true. I accepted every single review that came my way when I first started out but I was also kinda unhappy because I had to keep reading books i didn't really like. Now I know better lol! Great post!

Yes it is important to have fun because that is reflected on the posts, once it stops being enjoyable, it will become a chore that will be painful to do in the long run.
Talk Supe DLS
I couldn't agree more with your second point!!! I think some people blog for the wrong reasons. Well said!
Very important to remember those points---if you do it just for the ARC's, it shows in your reviews...Do it because you enjoy it and have a passion for reading.
GREAT List and here is mine:http://csmaxwell.blogspot.com/2012/06/dirty-little-secret.html
I can't even tell you the last time I got an ARC.. months ago maybe? The majority of the books I review are ones that I own or have taken out from the library with the occasional review request thrown in.
Book Sniffers Anonysmous
I agree, ARC's aren't all they're cracked up to be and if one is only in it for the ARC's they're going to be stuck reading a lot of stuff that is "meh"! I'd rather pick and choose from my tbr than be forced to finish something that is putting me to sleep.
lol yeah I know. I've been slowly lowering my acceptance rate. I feel bad, but I really can't review everything!
That's what I did. I'm being a lot more picky about what books I'm accepting now. Thanks for stopping by!
yep I know. Sometimes you just have to realign your priorities a little. I'm a bit more lax now than when I first started blogging a few months ago.
exactly! Otherwise you're just lying and reading books you don't actually enjoy!
same here! Yeah so I don't review the up and coming next book but so what? I also read books I enjoy a lot more than having to force myself to trudge through something I don't like. I don't have enough time as it is. I can't waste it on books I don't want!
That's basically what I do. Also ARCs are so common with YA books and I don't read a lot of those (more so now since I've started blogging).
Great post!
I agree with everything you said!!
WOW great answers!!! Have a nice week.
Great Do & Don'ts! If we review books because we feel pressured to then it really isn't worth it. We read because we love to read & we love the books we read :)

Definitely something worth remembering! I love your answers cause their so true :) If you begin to feel like blogging is work, it'll never be fun for you and you'll never enjoy reading. And that's the point, to enjoy every book and share with everyone WHY you love it at all! Great DLS Ning :D
Neyra @DarkestAddictions
You too! Thanks!
Thanks!
Exactly! Though I don't do a lot of review books now, I have a lot fun reading books on my TBR list!
Thanks Neyra! I love reading and sharing my thoughts with everyone. So I read a lot of book on my TBR instead of review books but I think I enjoy those books a lot more and have more fun reading them!
Wonderful advice Ning!
Great DLS. I feel a lot of bloggers only blog to get ARCS and stuff. That is silly! You should blog because you love reading :D
